  • Started this journal
  • Just bought my first credstick(those peeps at the computer store didn't want cash).. The code is 781185... Just in case I need it some time in the future... Now I only need to find an ATM to transfer my cash to the credstick.. at least some of it.. there might be occasions, where cash is preferred over credstick.
  • Got this job from a Johnson at Dante's, second level:
"Ok, here's the deal - a plain parcel with a label on it reading
"ERRONEOUS" has been removed from the Saeder-Krupp lab by Doctor Lords.
He can only travel so far beyond the gates of Saeder-Krupp Tarislar
Research Center, so he had to place it in a abandoned police station
across the street rather than deliver it to me himself. Go to Tarislar,
retreive the parcel, bring it back to me, and you will get paid well."

  • I got killed just a few seconds ago.. Running around with a parcel that everybody wants isn't such a good idea.. Trying to fight of a shooting ganger with a katana isn't very clever as well.. I really need to work on those fighting skills, I guess.

Luckiy enough, I woke up at the DocWagon clinic WITH the parcel I need for the Johnson.. And he doesn't remember giving me the job.. grrr...

At least, he gave me the same one again... And this time, it went a LOT better, because I found a cab in Tarislar to take me back to Dante's bar. Finally, I can make the delivery.

7,200 nuyen and 2 karma points.. I guess, that's why that ganger wanted the parcel so badly :)

  • It's about time I find an ATM to transfer those 17,000 nuyen to my credstick...
  • Finally, my first cybercombat.. I haven't been around an ATM yet, but I managed to enter a vacant office in a building via the fire exit and jacked in... Being completely new to the matrix, I didn't even know what to do, so here's a transcipt of what happened:
       < 10P 9M > connect
       You jack into the matrix.
       Seattle LTG
Before you floats a perfect representation of the city of Seattle. It sits
upon a huge floating stone, suspended above an endless void. The level of
detail is amazing; data streams zoom along the streets below, weaving in and
out of buildings. The Seattle LTG provides links to every number within
Seattle, and you can clearly see where the huge masses of data stream out of
the Renraku Arcology and the Mitsuhama Towers, amongst others.

       < 10P 9M > load bod
You begin to upload a Generik bod chip to your icon.

       A Vacant Office
Though the room's been emptied of all furniture and fixtures, slight
indentations in the worn blue industrial carpeting provide a rough map of
where everything once was. Dust has begun to collect on the windowsills and in
the corners; even the RJ-715 dataport in the west wall is covered in grime.

  • Finally, I found an ATM at Espanoza Way Northeast I just deposited 15352 of my 17352 nuyen into a bank account and I'm going to transfer 12,000 of it into the credstick, because I'm going shopping :)
  • The first credstick code wasn't valid, because I didn't put the money on there right after activating it.. So I had to do it again and get a new code(435748) on that stick and transferred that 12,000 nuyen.
  • Bought a few programs.. Now my PCD-100 deck looks like this:
You jack into the deck and retrieve the following data:

       MPCP -1 - Active Memory 100 - Storage Memory 448/500
       Hardening 0 - IO 50 - Response Increase 0
       Persona Programs:
       Bod: 2 Masking: 2
       Sensors: 2 Evasion: 2
       Other Software:
a Microdeck 'Titanium' Armour Program Rating: 2
       a Microdeck 'Author' Read/Write Program Rating: 2
a Microdeck 'Trick' Deception Program Rating: 2

a Microdeck 'Inspector' Analyze Program Rating: 2
       a Generik Attack program R:2 Rating: 2
       Installed components:
a Generik bod chip Rating: 2
a Generik evasion chip Rating: 2
a Generik masking chip Rating: 2
a Generik sensors chip Rating: 2
       Cyberdeck System Check:
       System Operational: Affirmative.

  • Time to hit the sack, I already spent more then 3 hours of today In-Character(meaning: playing the game)

  • Got a job from some Jamaican Johnson at "The Afterlife":
Oswald Skylarke gives you a clear optiglass datachip.
"This job is a simple courier gig. What makes it rough is that its a
courier gig to Portland. Take this datachip, don't try to decrypt
what's on it you won't be able to, and give it to Robert James Hark
the Third in Portland. He will meet you at the Satyricon. "

  • Whee, it's taking me to another city :)

Off I wander.. or better ride.. on a hellbound bus.

Now THAT was a mission :) Riding the bus was free(I guess) and I had no trouble either finding this Mr. Hark(even though there were no taxis in that area of Portland, but it was only a couple of blocks away) and nobody tried to kill me :)

So it was mostly just a pleasant bus journey(apart from the smells of those professional, bad smelling travellers on the bus ;)) for which I got.. now hold on to something:

    22,666 nuyen and 2 karma points! :)

  • Next mission from the Jamaican:
Oswald Skylarke gives you a sealed envelope.
"Got a wee job for ya, mon. Take this envelope ta dis Jap chummah by de name of
Alan Tsukamoto. He always wears a white suit an' shades, and hangs out in a joint
called Yoshi's in Seattle. Now be careful - dere be a people who want what's in
this envelope, and be willin' ta geek for it.
If you see hitmen comin' round, mon, get them afore they get you, yanno? "

  • Piece of cake... I hid the envelope in my backpack and none of the 676789786945 hitmen I met on my way to the recipient at yoshi's bar got suspicious.. Maybe I didn't even need to hide it.

And again: 9,000 nuyen and 2 karma points.. This fellow is rather generous :)

  • went to the "Big Rhino" and hey.. there's an ATM here :) I should have known that earlier... Anyway, I just stuffed all but 10,000 nuyen of my money to my account
  • I guess, fighting is just NOT my way of living in awake2062.. After getting lost in a maze of sewers, I finally found a ladder, climbed up and...

got killed by a ghoul.. dammit. I really should try getting some decking experience to do my "normal" job :)

  • Let's go shopping and see if I can afford somethign new for my PCD-100 deck... Also I need a new penlight, because I lost mine while being killed. But I activated my DocWagon modulator.. Didn't know I had to do anything else than just wearing it :)
  • Oh, I still had my penlight.. IN MY HAND :)
  • Now I spent almost all my money on a flashy new XJ75 cyberdeck(the old PCD-100 is available at about 5,000 nuyen in stores, the XJ75 costs about 30,000 :))

Removing all the software from the PCD-100(which couldn't even run it.. grrrr) and installing it on the XJ75 was worse than installing windows on 500 real world machines..

Now I'm sitting at Nybbles and Bytes computer store, trying to do something useful on their test terminal... No results so far..

This is how my XJ75 looks like:

You jack into the deck and retrieve the following data:
       MPCP 3 - Active Memory 20 - Storage Memory 39/75
       Hardening 2 - IO 7 - Response Increase 0
       Persona Programs:
       Bod: 2 Masking: 2
       Sensors: 2 Evasion: 2
       Other Software:
a Microdeck 'Peeker' Browse Program Rating: 2
a Microdeck 'Inspector' Analyze Program Rating: 2
       a Microdeck 'Author' Read/Write Program Rating: 2
a Microdeck 'Titanium' Armour Program Rating: 2
       Installed components:
a Generik sensors chip Rating: 2
a Generik masking chip Rating: 2
a Generik evasion chip Rating: 2
a Generik bod chip Rating: 2
       Cyberdeck System Check:
       System Operational: Affirmative.

  • My credit stick needed another re-activation and got a new code(AGAIN!).. But the folks from awake2062 told me that it shouldn't need more than one activation(yeah, sure) and that I didn't need the code.. So I'll just stop wasting my time writing down hundreds of credstick codes for ONE item :)
